Catch Some Wide Eye

Titles are Overrated

how long have i stared at that angel-
a headless thing on a pedestal
my stone john the baptist
riding in the birdbath with his double chin
he’s my little garden paperweight
in this over-processed world
peeking just above the peonies
screaming of the end of time.

  5. Midst the flowers and bird bath,
the head that inspired the wrath,
of the queen who found a way,
To truly rule her world for a day,
She ordered the dance to stir a king,
So she could order just anything,
When the dance was over she said,
“Do what you promised. Off with his head!”
