Catch Some Wide Eye

You Asked for the Cabbage; I Gave You the Rice. You’ll Eat the Rice and Like It.

my heart is better left alone
for god knows what she’ll say or do
when pressed to think of what to say
she’ll shrivel up and crawl away
with just the slightest piece of you
to watch it wriggle, yelp and moan
my heart is better left alone
she’ll eat your young and old ones, too
or hug them ’till they’re pale and blue
and still, you’ll beg her, please, to stay
but she will laugh and run away
with walls as strong as hardest stone,
my heart is better left alone
